What is Discordance?

In very simple words, discordance is a lack of agreement or consistency between two parties.

Thought conflicts

How can such psychological behavior impacts design?

The impact of discordance happens when a familiar product/app/design got changed drastically.

When we try to build something better or newer for our end-user and end up with the fantastic, wow design (as per designer/stakeholder/client) they might have missed or neglected their own end-users empathy towards the application. What user feels, thoughts, talks, and do in and on their application. Then the problem arises because of a conflict of interest between designer and user.

A mental model misalignment can change the way of looking at the same thing as a challenge to the end-user. They were challenged by their own comfortability, learning curves, and the speed that leads to creating a cognitive load before moving forward or making decisions.
Understanding new design and framework can take time but that is something that was not agreed upon by all users, it depends on the need of the user how they want to go ahead, whether they should learn or drop off.
